Singing River Holds Tree Planting Ceremony to Honor Dead

Singing River Hospital remembered those who lost their lives this year at its annual tree planting ceremony in Pascagoula.

Family and friends of the deceased were invited to help plant a live oak tree around the Singing River Walking Trail to keep a living memory of their loved ones. The ceremony included kind words from administrators and nurses who worked closely with patients who are no longer with us. A bag piper played softly as families were allowed to help plant the oak tree.

Chris Holland, Vice President of the Regional Cancer Center, says, “I think it gives us a time to reflect on the year of the patients we served and have them come out and be a part and memorialize them with tree, something they can come back to that’s tangible and represents the resiliency of the patients that we serve and the families we serve.”

Singing River chooses November for the ceremony as it is recognized as National Hospice Month.
