Pass Christian officer assaulted during traffic stop

An ordinary traffic stop in Pass Christian this morning led to an assault on a police officer. According to officials, around 9:30 this morning a Pass Christian police officer stopped a man speeding near North Street and Clark Avenue.
The driver did not have a valid license and the officer attempted to see if they could release the car to the passenger, 27-year-old Aviana White, who then became irate and refused to identify herself. Both White and the driver left the vehicle while the officer commanded them to get back inside the car.
The driver was arrested without incident while White pulled away from the officer which lead to an altercation and White assaulting the officer. She was then tased for resisting arrest and shortly after, another family member arrived and interfered with the arrest, she was arrested, but released at the scene.
Drug paraphernalia and a gun were also found in the vehicle. White was also wanted for an outstanding warrant.
