Picayune Punches Ticket to Playoffs with 28-21 Rivalry Win Over Pearl River Central

CARRIERE, Miss. (WXXV) — With playoff hopes hanging in the balance, the Picayune Maroon Tide and Pearl River Central Blue Devils faced off in a crucial Class 6A, Region 4 matchup Thursday night. In a hard-fought rivalry battle, Picayune came away with a 28-21 victory.

Pearl River Central wasted no time establishing its offense, with quarterback Titus Feaster leading an impressive opening drive. Feaster connected with Evan Bellelo and Kylen Egana for consecutive first downs before picking up additional yardage on the ground.

Facing fourth down, Feaster powered through the Picayune defense to keep the drive alive. Moments later, he recovered a high snap and threw across the field to Caden Hinton for another first down.

Feaster capped off the drive with a rushing touchdown up the middle, giving the Blue Devils an early 7-0 lead following the extra point.

Picayune responded quickly behind running back Xavier Dennis. After picking up a first down along the sideline, Dennis reversed field on the following play and broke free for a touchdown, tying the game at seven.

The Blue Devils answered with another scoring drive. Feaster connected with Isaiah Mitchell for a first down before finding Terrel Wilkes on a shovel pass for a touchdown, putting Pearl River Central back in front.

PRC’s defense then came up with a big play when Egana stripped the football from Dennis, forcing a fumble and giving the Blue Devils possession.

Feaster took advantage of the turnover, connecting with Ayden Radosta for a significant gain to move the offense downfield.

However, Picayune’s defense delivered a crucial stop on fourth down when Jamari Hathorne brought down Radosta, ending the Blue Devils’ drive.

Despite Pearl River Central’s strong offensive showing, Picayune battled its way to a 28-21 victory, securing bragging rights in the cross-town rivalry and a crucial Class 6A, Region 4 win.
