Harrison County Sheriff’s Office investigating scam posing as ‘Pre-Trial Services’

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new scam going around.

The sheriff’s office has received multiple reports in reference to a scam involving a group referring to themselves as ‘pre-trial services.’ They then provide fees and costs to have an inmate released from the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with an ankle monitor.

Once the money is sent, the victim discovers the inmate has not been released.

The scam provides accurate information about inmates and their charges as well as successfully locating family members of the inmate.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the community they never contact anyone for payment over the phone or over money transfer apps.
