Kids Tour Keesler

About 20 students from Biloxi Public Schools visited Keesler Air Force Base for a hands-on look at STEM projects.
The district was awarded a grant which allows the fifth to seventh graders to participate in a week-long summer camp.
Today, they visited the base to learn about the technology and equipment used in 3-D printing, wood work and water jet machines.
Although the students discovered new tools in science and math, at points they were the ones giving the adults some tips, especially with technology. Imogene Fortenberry with Biloxi Public Schools said, “They had a microwave oven, you know, where the sun does it. I’m going ‘wow.’ I would have never thought that a cereal box, tinfoil and plastic could make anything but they have such great imaginations.”
The grant lasts five years. Biloxi officials hope to continue this summer camp every year with more students joining the fun.
