GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The 11th annual Keesler Federal Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon is expected to bring thousands of runners to the Coast this December.

With the race just two months away, WXXV News 25’s Asia Ellis takes us to the Mississippi Aquarium to reveal the 2026 finisher medals.

The countdown is on to the Keesler Federal Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon and it’s almost time to see what runners will get at that finish line.

Without further ado, the 2026 Finisher Medals for the 11th annual race. Each medal features a different dolphin design, highlighting the course that takes runners right past the Mississippi Aquarium along Highway 90. Marathon Marketing Director Mike Wattigny said, “We wanted to provide a reason to come to the Coast, during a historically slow weekend. So, we wanted to create a destination marathon weekend that would bring in runners, pack the hotels, restaurants, provide sports tourism, and economic impact. So, the momentum is certainly there and we’re trending now to over 6,000 with runners coming in from all 50 states and multiple countries from around the world.”

This race allows runners to improve their cardiovascular health while choosing from the full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids marathon, or special double down challenge to fit their fitness level and goals. “We encourage everybody to give them high-fives out there, make a lot of noise, and just encourage the runners because they have a 13- or 26-mile journey ahead of them.”

There is still time to register online at msgulfcoastmarathon.com. The race is set for December 12th and 13. Registered runners can pick up their race packets in the CTA building next to the Mississippi Aquarium.
