Mississippi Highway Patrol shares safety tips ahead of Hurricane Isaias

With Hurricane Isaias approaching and Cruisin’ the Coast wrapping up, there will be many visitors leaving the Gulf Coast.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, vehicles like tractor-trailers, RVs, and trucks pulling tractors are especially vulnerable to strong wind guests.

Highway Patrol wants to remind drivers of a few safety tips while traveling with strong winds:

• Slow down
• Keep a firm grip on the wheel
• Increase your following distance
• Use extra caution on bridges and open roadways

If winds become too dangerous, MHP suggests drivers find a safe place to stop until conditions improve.
