Drivers test their skills at the Autocross at the Scarlet Pearl

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV)- Drivers are putting their cars and skills to the test. The Autocross event was underway at Scarlet Pearl on Monday with more action coming the next two days.

The engines are revving and the competition is heating up.

Cruisin’ the Coast’s Autocross event is taking over the Scarlet Pearl Casino, giving drivers a chance to test their skills on a closed course.

Drivers navigate a series of turns and obstacles, where speed, control, and precision all play a critical role. BFGoodrich Pro Driver Brian Finch said, “This event is a lot more active for the spectators as well as the cruisers so if you are a cruiser and you’re registered you can autocross your car for free. It doesn’t cost you anything. Come on in get in line and do as many laps as you want and of course from a spectator stand point, if you want to get in on the action, go over to the share the ride tent, sign a waiver and we’ll throw you in one of our driver’s trucks and give you a big ole smile. So, it’s a great way to experience what we do and it’s a 100 percent free for everybody. Since we are going to be here for three days and we’re right here located in D’Iberville, lots of stuff going on here at the casino and you just got to come out here to experience it. You do it one time, you’re going to want to do it again.”

With thousands of cruisers in town this week, the Autocross is just one of many events putting the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the fast lane.
