Two separate fatal crashes leave four dead in Pearl River and Harrison Counties
(WXXV) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating two fatal crashes that happened Friday in Pearl River and Harrison counties, leaving four people dead.
According to MHP, the first crash occurred around 6 a.m. Friday on Highway 43 in Pearl River County. Troopers say a 2003 Honda Civic driven by 41-year-old Saul Rogers of Lumberton was traveling south when it collided with a northbound 1998 Cadillac Deville. The Cadillac was driven by 71-year-old Nevel Anderson Jr. of Kiln and carried 76-year-old passenger Peggy Anderson.
Rogers and Peggy Anderson suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Nevel Anderson Jr. was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
A second deadly crash happened around 7 p.m. Friday on Highway 49 in Harrison County. Investigators say a 2021 Ford F-350 driven by 44-year-old Hilburn Parker of Saucier was traveling south with passenger Courtney Parker, 40, of Ocean Springs when it collided with a 2005 Ford Escape that was turning left from Highway 49 North.
The Escape was driven by 49-year-old Angie Niles of Saucier, with 22-year-old passenger Tyra Niles. Troopers say Tyra Niles died at the scene, while Angie Niles was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. Hilburn and Courtney Parker were not injured.
Both crashes remain under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
