Pirates Sail Past Greene County 38-14 in District Play

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WXXV) — With the playoffs on the line, every district game carries added weight, and the Pass Christian Pirates continued their strong start to the season Friday night.

Pass Christian improved to 6-0 with a dominant 38-14 victory over the Greene County Wildcats.

The Pirates wasted little time getting on the scoreboard.

Taking over backed up near their own seven-yard line, quarterback Paris Travillion delivered a strike to receiver Brandon Laneaux, who turned upfield for a first down and helped spark the drive.

Travillion then connected with Mario Burks for a touchdown, giving Pass Christian an early 7-0 lead.

Greene County struggled to find an answer on its opening possession, turning the ball over on downs and giving the Pirates another opportunity.

On third-and-long, Travillion dropped back and launched another deep pass to Burks, who came down with the big play to set up the Pirates inside the red zone.

Travillion finished the drive himself, taking off up the middle before bouncing outside and finding the end zone. The extra point pushed the Pass Christian advantage to 14-0.

The Wildcats refused to go away quietly.

Facing third-and-long on their next possession, Greene County quarterback found Noah McLeod, who made a one-handed catch to keep the drive alive.

The Wildcats eventually reached the red zone and punched it in for their first touchdown of the night, cutting the deficit to 14-7.

Pass Christian answered right back.

Already in Greene County territory, the Pirates handed the ball to Douglas White, who found a hole created by a big block from Andrew Murray.

White broke into open space and outran the Wildcats defense for a touchdown, extending the Pirates’ lead to 21-7.

Pass Christian continued to control the game from there, adding to its lead throughout the second half.

The Pirates ultimately pulled away for a 38-14 district victory, improving to 6-0 on the season.
