Coffee Creek drainage project begins Monday in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Gulfport is set to begin a major sewer and drainage project in the Coffee Creek area.

The project covers Coffee Creek between 31st Street and 32nd/East Park Street from Hancock Avenue East to Courthouse Road.

Work begins Monday and will include replacing aging sewer lines, improving drainage, and stabilizing ditch banks.

The project is fully funded through the Restore Act, meaning no cost to local taxpayers.

Mayor Hugh Keating says the improvements should help the neighborhood better handle wastewater and storm water for years to come.

The city says it will work to minimize construction disruptions and keep residents informed throughout the project.
