Cruisin’ the Coast 2026: What drivers need to know about traffic plans along the Coast
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Cruisin’ the Coast is expected to bring heavy traffic to the area this weekend with law enforcement preparing for the increased number of motorists.
The 30th annual Cruisin’ the Coast kicks off Sunday with View the Cruise in Gulfport.
As classic cars make their way along Highway 90 throughout the next week, motorists can expect heavier traffic and potential delays. Gulfport resident Brian Barkley said, “Cruisin’ the Coast is always a good event for all the coastal cities hosting events. I am excited about that, but as far as the traffic things are going to go slow, way slower than they normally would. You just have to be patient if you’re trying to go somewhere without having to go to the beach. Just find those back roads, so you don’t have to really put up with it.”
Law enforcement will be out in Gulfport and Biloxi directing traffic with one lane in each direction reserved for emergency vehicles. Lt. Matthew Jalanivich with Biloxi PD said, “If you come to this event, you’re going to be sitting in traffic 30 to 45 minutes or longer trying to get from one side of town to the other. If we do have to implement the one lane traffic, it’s going to be hard to turn around. So, you may have to go north and back to the interstate if you want to go somewhere else. Patience, know the traffic laws, and what you’re getting yourself into when you come over here. Just try to enjoy yourself and cruise the coast as they say because you’re not getting anywhere fast.”
With traffic expected to increase this weekend, drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes like Pass Road, I-110, and Cowan Lorraine Road to avoid congestion and safely enjoy Cruisin’ the Coast.
