Mississippi 2026-27 oyster season opens October 1

Mississippi’s 2026-27 oyster season opens Thursday, October 1.

Harvesting will be allowed from legal sunrise until noon during the month except for Sundays.

Open areas include reefs near St. Joe, Waveland, St. Stanislaus, Henderson Point, and Biloxi Bay.

Some areas will be limited to tonging only.

Daily commercial limits are 15 sacks for resident tonging vessels and 20 sacks for dredging vessels.

Recreational harvesters are limited to three sacks per licensed resident during any seven-day period.

Also, harvesters must check in and out at a DMR check station.
