Singing River Health System brings mobile clinic to Moss Point
MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- Singing River Health System is bringing healthcare services directly to the Moss Point community.
The health system’s mobile clinic is now making regular visits to the Community Action Center, giving residents easier access to primary and preventative care close to home.
Singing River Health System is taking healthcare on the road.
The mobile clinic stopped at the Community Action Center in Moss Point, providing residents with convenient access to medical care in their own neighborhood.
The initiative aims to expand access to primary and preventative healthcare by bringing services directly to the communities where people live and work, helping eliminate transportation and access barriers for patients. Nurse Practitioner Arica Jones said, “The mobile unit itself is making health care accessible to the community. So, we’re able to provide wellness visits to them doing things such as scheduling mammograms, doing scans, providing immunizations for them and we also done some problem visits today for those that have pulled up to see what we have to offer them.”
Services include primary care for adults and families, treatment for common illnesses, diabetes and blood pressure care, preventative screenings, immunizations, and women’s health services.
The clinic also offers medication management, wellness checks, and guidance on nutrition and healthy lifestyles “A lot of the patients we encounter in clinic are doctor shy. So, this is pretty much an unconventional method, bringing them to the mobile unit, letting them know that health care is accessible, not to be afraid to come in. We’re very relaxed at the mobile unit and just try to make them feel as comfortable as possible.”
Director of Population Health Mary Lord said, “The mobile unit is just one aspect of our health care system, and so it’s connected to the hospital. So, if we have something that we encounter in the mobile unit that we can’t really treat here, we have the resources. We just want the patients to know that they can come see us here, get established with a PCP, have their wellness visit done, and start taking steps in their preventative care.”
The mobile clinic will return to the Community Action Center from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on October 21, November 19, and December 17.
No appointment is necessary. Residents can simply walk up during scheduled visits to receive care.
