North Carolina man sentenced for sexual assault of a child in Harrison County
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A North Carolina man will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a child.
District Attorney W. Crosby Parker says 36-year-old Theodore Joseph Parks pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery of a child in Harrison County.
Parks was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and is not eligible for parole.
Prosecutors say the abuse occurred over several years, beginning when the victim was between eight and ten years old.
The victim spoke in court about the lasting trauma, while the district attorney said her courage n coming forward helped hold Parks accountable.
