Millions of funds from Rural Health Transformation program earmarked for Coast efforts

Mississippi is awarding more than $104 million to modernize and expand rural healthcare.

The funding is part of the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program. George County is receiving multiple awards for hospital and healthcare upgrades, including new patient monitoring, lab and maternal health equipment, cybersecurity improvements, and other technology.

Memorial Health System is also receiving millions for projects in Stone and Harrison Counties, including new imaging technology, telehealth remote patient monitoring, and other healthcare upgrades.

A $1.9 million Memorial project will establish AI enabled care serving Stone, George, Hancock, Jackson, and Pearl River counties.

The awards are part of the first year of Mississippi’s five-year effort to transform rural healthcare.
