City of Hattiesburg unveils marker for Writers Trail

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Hattiesburg unveiled their first Mississippi Writers Trail marker.

The marker honors author and education doctor Noel Polk. Dr. Polk’s writings helped readers better understand the works of state literary icons William Faulkner and Eudora Welty.

Dr. Polk’s writing challenged stereotypes and encouraged deeper conversation about the south.

The marker can be found on the west side of the library plaza on the Southern Miss campus between Cook Library and the McCain Library.
