GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The George County School District has released a statement on a teacher being impersonated on social media.

The district confirms the account was not created or authorized by the teacher.

The school district says that creating or using social media to impersonate a person is inappropriate and may have serious consequences under district policy and applicable law.

The district says they take matters like this very seriously.

Students and members are encouraged to use social media responsibly. The district adds that since this matter involves a student, more details will not be released.
