New antique mall opens in Downtown Wiggins

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- Shoppers and antiques enthusiasts have a new destination in South Mississippi.

Old Town Relics cut the ribbon on its new location Thursday morning, marking the start of what owners hope will be a long-term investment in Wiggins.

Located just outside historic Downtown Wiggins, Old Town Relics is hoping to bring more life to the area. “I know that downtown where we are had kind of started moving out towards the main highway out there when Walmart came. And a lot of the businesses here was abandoned or the buildings were closed and abandoned. I just felt like Old Town Wiggins needed a revival in the sense of businesses. So, we chose this location because of where it’s at and we’re bringing life back, and hopefully we can help the economy here in Wiggins as well.”

Within the next few months, owners plan to add a door that opens directly onto Pine Street. They hope this addition will encourage visitors to explore other businesses in Downtown Wiggins, spreading foot traffic throughout the area. “Easier access to get into Pine Street from the door, the new door, to walk the old town, you know Pine Street and visit some of the other businesses. That’s what we’re wanting to do, our foot traffic with the other businesses in Wiggins.”

They say their goal is to honor Wiggins’ past while investing in its future. “That’s why we call it Old Town Relics, cause we’re in the old part of Wiggins and hopefully this will be a blessing to Wiggins, and I know it’s going to be a blessing to us.”

Owners say they also have plans to expand in the future, with hopes of opening an auction house in the area.
