Crews work to extinguish Jackson County fire

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV) — Crews are working to put out a large woods fire in Jackson County Wednesday afternoon.

The Mississippi Forestry Commission says the 20 acre fire is in the area of Highway 90 and Old Spanish Trail.

At this time, Old Spanish Trail is closed from the CSX railroad crossing bridge to Shell Landing Boulevard due to the woods fire. The City of Gautier is asking drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to allow emergency personnel to work safely.
