AccelerateMS, State Office of Student Financial Aid launch UPSKILL MS Grant

Mississippi adults looking to build new skills for in-demand careers could now get some help paying for school.

AccelerateMS and the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid have officially launched the new UPSKILL Mississippi Grant.

The program provides state financial aid to eligible Mississippians enrolled in workforce-aligned certificate and associate degree programs at public community and junior colleges.

The program focuses on priority industries including advanced manufacturing, construction, skilled trades, agriculture, transportation, maritime and healthcare.

For eligible students, the grant covers remaining tuition and fees after other gift aid has been applied.

Students can also receive an additional $500 annual stipend for books and materials.

AccelerateMS says the goal is to reduce financial barriers and help more Mississippians connect with training for high-demand jobs.
