South Mississippi school districts releasing students early due to severe weather threat

South Miss (WXXV),  The following South Mississippi school districts have announced early dismissals due to the threat of severe weather:

Hancock County School District:

  • Elementary Schools: 1:25 p.m.
  • Hancock High School: 2:31 p.m.
  • Hancock Middle School: 2:45 p.m.

Bay-Waveland School District:

  • Early Learning Center, Waveland Elementary, North Bay Elementary: 1:30 p.m.
  • Bay-Waveland Middle School: 2:35 p.m.
  • Bay High School: 2:30 p.m.

Pearl River County School District:

  • Pearl River Central Elementary School: 1:15 p.m.
  • Pearl River Central Middle/High Schools: 1:30 p.m.
District officials announced the early release schedule to ensure students and staff can travel home safely before conditions potentially deteriorate later in the day.
In addition, all after-school practices, activities and events have been canceled for today as a precaution.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to make arrangements for student pickup and transportation ahead of the adjusted dismissal times.
