E. Brian Rose pleads guilty to tax evasion

In case you missed it, a South Mississippi man and former congressional candidate has pleaded guilty to evading more than two million in federal income taxes.

Federal prosecutors claim Eric Brian Rosenberg, publicly known as E. Brian Rose, tried to hide money from the IRS after learning the agency was trying to collect taxes he owed.

According to the indictment, Rosenberg allegedly used a practice known as ‘check churning’ over the course of four years, moving money in and out of cashier’s check to keep funds out of his bank account.

Prosecutors say he later created a company and used its bank account to continue the scheme.

Rosenburg runs the digital news publication GC Wire and ran for the Republican nomination for Mississippi’s fourth congressional district in 2018.
