Sting operation in Wiggins leads to business’ beer permit being revoked

Wiggins, Miss. (WXXV) – The Wiggins Police Department is alerting the public to a case they’ve been working on.

Starting July 22nd of this year, the department has received complaints of minors being able to buy alcohol and nicotine from One Stop Fuel.

An investigation was launched, marking the third investigation into the business in the last 18 months.

On August 11, investigators conducted a compliance sting using an undercover minor. The minor was able to buy both alcohol and nicotine during the operation.

Wiggins Police presented the findings to a court on August 18th. Mayor Darrell Berry and the Board of Aldermen voted to revoke the beer permit held by One Stop Fuel.

Police sharing the safety and well-being of our children remains a top priority. The Wiggins Police Department also thanking the citizens of Wiggins who came forward with information and concerns regarding this matter.

Chief Timothy Hill Sr. saying, “If you’re going to continue selling alcohol to our minors, we’re going to shut you down. If you continue to operate in this manner, we will shut you down.”
