Amtrak representatives to celebrate one year anniversary of Mardi Gras service
Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of Amtrak’s Mardi Gras service, which brought passenger rail back to South Mississippi for the first time since Hurricane Katrina.
Amtrak leaders say ridership remains strong one year later for the service between New Orleans and Mobile, with four stops in Mississippi.
Tuesday morning, Amtrak representatives will be in New Orleans, Gulfport, and Mobile to celebrate the anniversary and see the train off.
They’re also expected to release updated ridership numbers to the public and give out celebratory keepsakes to riders on Tuesday’s route.
