MGCCC hosts two-day community job fair at Perkinston campus

PERKINSTON, Miss. (WXXV)- With Hood Industries mill set to close, many workers are now looking for new career opportunities.

MGCCC is connecting the community with the resources to help those impacted explore what’s next.

The two-day job fair at the Perkinston campus is aimed at helping flood victims and former Hood Industry employees find their next job opportunity after Tropical Storm Arthur damaged the Wiggins mill, leading to its closure and affecting about 250 workers.

With the help of MGCCC, job seekers can meet employers, get resume help, talk with career coaches, and learn about workforce development, adult education, and career technical training for in-demand jobs.

For those still deciding what comes next, the job fair provides an opportunity to explore a different career path and learn about what the local workforce has to offer.

If you missed Friday’s job fair, there is another opportunity to attend on Saturday, August 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hayden Student Union on the MGCCC Perkinston campus.
