Try Transit Day

National Dump the Pump Day encourages commuters to ditch their ride and hop on public transportation. The Gulf Coast is participating by hosting Try Transit Day.
Residents and visitors have the opportunity to hop on any CTA bus all day without spending a dime. The entire initiative revolves around putting down the gas pump and seeing what public transportation has to offer.
CTA officials tell News 25 they have seen outstanding results in past years with Try Transit Day. CTA Executive Director Kevin Coggin said, “When we do Try Transit and Dump the Pump, our ridership goes up 50 percent. We have a lot of people come out, a lot of regulars take advantage of it and we do have quite a few people that come out and just try it out.”
Try Transit Day has been a yearly tradition on the Gulf Coast for nearly a decade. You can jump on any of the CTA buses at their regular stops including Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, D’Iberville, St. Martin and Bay St. Louis.
