Mississippi 911 emergency professionals gather in Biloxi for annual conference

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- 911 coordinators and operators from across the state are gathering in Biloxi this week for their annual conference.

The event focuses on training, technology, and the future of emergency communications.

When someone dials 911, every second counts. That’s why 911 emergency response professionals from Mississippi are in Biloxi this week.

The 2026 Mississippi 911 Conference brings together those who help keep emergency communications running around the clock. MS 911 Coordinators President Torry Williams said, “The event this week, it’s about dispatchers or telecommunicators, coming together to learn about new ways of doing 911. New education, a time to fellowship and just learn those things from each other that way they can shorten their time of hardship. So, it’s a good way to get lessons learned on top of education and requirements that they have to meet every year.”

The four-day conference includes more than 16 hours of training, along with discussions on new technology and the future of 911 services in Mississippi. MS 911 Coordinators Vice President Brad Bradford said, “AI is an important thing that we have to embrace now because it’s all around us. So, with the 911 center, a lot of these companies are integrating that because it’s not here to replace any human 911 dispatcher but to enhance. Time saves lives and any great inspiration that we can get from AI to have at our centers and to be able to boost our 911 calls to get the first responders where they need to go. We want to make sure our 911 centers have the up-to-date technology that our young dispatchers can use to help the first responders that’s going on calls or that’s responding to each and every citizen in the state of Mississippi.”

The conference will continue through August 13.
