Saronic expands operations to Port of Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A company that builds autonomous ships is expanding its operations to Gulfport, establishing a new testing site at the Port of Gulfport.

Saronic will use the site to test and commission its 180-foot marauder unmanned surface vessels before final delivery.

The Gulfport facility spans more than 30,000 square feet and includes port access, office, and warehouse space.

The company’s first marauder arrived in Gulfport in mid-July and has already logged hundreds of hours of on-water testing.

Additional vessels are now under construction at Saronic’s shipyard in Franklin, Louisiana and will also come to Gulfport for testing as production increases.

Mississippi leaders have celebrated the news, including Congressman Mike Ezell, who says Saronic’s decision to invest in Gulfport is a major win for the state and the Coast’s workforce and cements our region as a leader in maritime innovation.
