Quiet stretch ahead, but we’re keeping the heat around

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi

Overnight, skies will remain mostly clear with lows settling into the mid-70s. Wednesday through Saturday will feature highs in the lower 90s each afternoon, with only a 20% chance of a brief shower or thunderstorm during the peak heating of the day. Most communities will stay dry, making for several great days to enjoy outdoor plans—just be sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks from the heat.

Rain chances begin to increase slightly by Sunday and continue into early next week as a more typical summertime pattern returns. While widespread rain isn’t expected, scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will become more common and could provide some temporary relief from the heat.

Overall, expect a warm and mostly quiet forecast with plenty of sunshine, highs in the low 90s, and only isolated storms through Saturday before rain chances gradually increase heading into next week.
