Picayune Police Department achieves national accreditation

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- The Picayune Police Department has achieved national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation.

The department says this is a distinguished recognition of professional excellence in public safety.

This accreditation is considered the gold standard of law enforcement, requiring agencies to meet a set of standards designed to ensure the best practices in policy, procedures, operations, and accountability.

The process involves a comprehensive review of the department along with an on-site assessment.

Picayune PD says there are over 400 law enforcement agencies in the state and they are one out of eight that is accredited nationally and one of 40 accredited through the state.
