Reeves, England Defend investigators in Nolan Wells case

(WXXV) – As the investigation into the death of Ocean Springs teenager Nolan Wells continues, two Mississippi leaders are publicly expressing confidence in the agencies handling the case.

Governor Tate Reeves took to X on Thursday, sharing a video from the United Cajun Navy and criticizing attorney Ben Crump’s statements regarding aspects of the investigation. Reeves specifically challenged claims related to whether Wells’ body was found fully clothed on Horn Island.

The governor also reiterated his confidence in the work being done by investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Meanwhile, State Sen. Jeremy England, who represents a large portion of Jackson County in the Mississippi Senate, also weighed in on the case during an appearance on Fox News.

England defended the investigators involved and expressed support for the ongoing efforts to determine exactly what happened to Wells.

The comments come as public interest in the case continues to grow nationwide. Earlier this week, Crump released the findings of an independent autopsy that listed both the cause and manner of death as undetermined. The Wells family is still awaiting the official autopsy report from the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office.
