Man Carries Cross on Beach Boulevard
In the wake of the Orlando shooting, a Gulfport man is trying to bring hope to people in a bit of a different way. If you were passing through Gulfport on Beach Boulevard this morning, you may have seen him.
Gulfport resident Earl Bryant was carrying a large wooden cross along the side of the road. He tells News 25 he is trying to remind people to look to faith in a time where we may be feeling discouraged about the recent shootings.
He says regardless of his beliefs, 50 people did not deserve to lose their lives in Orlando. “I don’t believe anyone deserves that kind of thing because they’re people and they’re God’s people. God loves them. Even though I’m not in agreement with what they do and I hope it’s all right for me to speak that, but I’m going to speak that. I’m not in agreement with what they do but I wouldn’t want that to happen. I wouldn’t want to go out and kill them because they’re doing something I don’t agree with.”
The Gulfport man says he started walking by Highway 49 and was almost to Biloxi when News 25 caught up with him. He says he received a lot of honks from passing cars.
