Teachers across Mississippi quickly put classroom funds to work through new digital payment system

Mississippi teachers are already putting their classroom supply money to use through the state’s new digital payment system.

The Mississippi Department of Education says more than 4,300 Education Enhancement Fund transactions worth more than $760,000 have been made through the new class wallet platform since Wednesday.

State Superintendent Dr. Lance Evans says the new system is giving teachers access to their classroom funds earlier than in previous years.

The most common purchases so far include classroom supplies, instructional equipment, and technology.

MDE says it’s also adding more Mississippi vendors to the program and will update it approved vendor list each week.
