Community celebrates at annual Hot Dog Day in the Bay event

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)- Wednesday was National Hot Dog Day and the Bay St. Louis Police Department celebrated with a community cookout.

The Bay St. Louis Police Department teamed up with local businesses to serve free hot dogs and outdoor activities at MLK Park. “It’s a 10 out of 10, it’s really fun! My favorite part was all the hotdogs; the fries are the best. They’re bussing. You should really come next year because it’s a really fun experience. All the firefighters are playing basketball. There are firefighters, policemen, and bouncy houses. The playground equipment is really cool and awesome. It’s all just a really great experience for your future.”

From a mini hotdog eating contest to a performance by the Bay Ratz Marching Battery, this event was packed with entertainment. Officer Roy Fullerton said, “It just makes you feel young at heart again. These kids make me feel like a kid again, just interacting with them. It sets an impression upon them, that police officers are here to serve them as they become older and more responsible parts of our community.”

Beyond the hot dogs and festivities, this event was about bringing the community together.
