Afternoons are getting hotter with limited rain chances

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead

Tonight will be partly cloudy and comfortable by mid-July standards, with temperatures falling into the low 70s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 92. Even hotter weather arrives Thursday as temperatures climb into the mid 90s.

By Friday, the heat really settles in. Highs are expected to reach the upper 90s Friday through early next week, with overnight temperatures only falling into the upper 70s.

Rain chances will stay low through Friday. A few isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms may return this weekend, but most of the day should remain dry. Small rain chances continue into early next week.

The biggest weather story over the next several days will be the heat. High temperatures could approach 98° by Monday, so be prepared for some very hot afternoons.
