Airbnb highlights Mississippi Gulf Coast as affordable beach destinations

If you’re looking for an affordable beach getaway, you may not have to travel far.

Bay St. Louis and Gulfport have been named among Airbnb’s best value beach destinations for families.

As families look for ways to stretch their vacation budgets this summer, Airbnb is shining a spotlight on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Nathan Rotman with Airbnb said, “In Mississippi specifically, the average price for a two-bedroom Airbnb on the Coast is less than 250 dollars a night. Specifically, Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, you know really great Mississippi coastal towns with lots to do. These are why those particular cities were highlighted as part of this affordable travel option this summer.”

The company’s recent ‘Coast More, Pay Less,’ list highlights beach destinations across the country where families can enjoy a Coastal vacation without breaking the bank. “What we’re finding right now is that 80 percent of Americans are saying that travel is simply out of reach. That they’re worried about the rising costs of travel, and we’re seeing that with gas prices and things. And that there is a lower overall rate of people planning beach vacations.”

Even as higher travel costs keep many families close to home, affordable beach destinations are attracting attention.

According to Airbnb, searches for Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, and similar coastal communities are up nearly 20 percent this summer. “There’s a lot of other options to help people save money this summer. We encourage them to check out on Airbnb, reserve now, pay later, pay over time. There’s a lot of ways that people can save money and still get that great summer holiday experience.”
