Turning hotter as the week goes on
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
Happy Monday South Mississippi!
We may see a stray showers or thunderstorm around tonight, mainly before 2 a.m., but it’s more likely that we’ll just see partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will fall into the low and mid 70s by Tuesday morning.
We’ll looking at a mix of sun and clouds with highs near 90 degrees on Tuesday. Most of the day should be dry, although a few stray showers or thunderstorms could pop up late in the afternoon.
From there, the heat starts to build. Highs climb into the low 90s Wednesday and the mid 90s Thursday. By Friday and through the weekend, temperatures could reach the upper 90s, but a better rain chance returns that could help limit just how hot our afternoon gets.
There will be opportunities for a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms Friday through Monday, but widespread rain doesn’t look likely at this point.
If you have outdoor plans later this week or over the weekend, be ready for the summer heat to return. Don’t forget to take plenty of breaks, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on the sky for any afternoon storms. When thunder roars, go indoors!
