New improvements coming to parks across Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Harrison County Parks and Recreation is moving forward with new improvements across the county.

After recently completing its largest project to date, the Daniel Kent Jones Sportsplex in Gulfport, the department is now focusing on upgrades at Lizana Park.

Plans include extending the park’s walking track from a quarter mile to a half mile, giving visitors a longer path for walking and exercise.

New restrooms will be built near the track to improve accessibility and convenience for parkgoers.

County officials say the Lizana Park improvements are just one of several projects currently in the works.

They are hoping to have these completed by summer of 2027.
