JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)– The family of Nolan Wells, who died on Horn Island after going missing on July 4th, has retained notable civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent them, as the investigation into the teen’s death continues.

Crump’s office released this statement on his website, saying the family is calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into how Wells died.

Crump’s legal team will also conduct an independent review of the circumstances of Nolan’s death.

In a statement, Crump says:

“Nolan Wells was a beloved son, teammate and friend who went out to celebrate the Fourth of July and never came home. His family deserves answers. They deserve the truth. We will not rest until every fact about what happened to Nolan on Horn Island is brought into the light, and we call on investigators to pursue this case with the urgency and transparency this family deserves.”

As we’ve previously reported, Wells’ body was positively identified Tuesday by the state medical examiners office.

A cause of death has not yet been determined.
