Centers for Disease Control warns of flesh-eating bacteria

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning for a flesh-eating bacteria.

The bacteria has been found in Mississippi as well as Florida. Health officials are concerned about vibrio vulnificus bacteria, which can lead to deadly infections.

The CDC says the bacteria thrives in warm coastal waters.

People can contract it while swimming, fishing, or walking on the beach.

Those who have open wounds should stay out of saltwater and use a waterproof bandage.

Health officials recommend not eating raw or undercooked oysters.
