Community celebrates Gautier’s 40th birthday, America’s 250th

GAUTIER, Miss. (WXXV) — The city of Gautier held a double birthday bash on Thursday, celebrating the city’s 40th anniversary and America’s 250th.

Community members came out to city hall’s front lawn to enjoy free food, music, games and a lot of family fun.

“You know, 40 years ago our community officially became a city, and since that day, generations of residents have worked together to build what we have today, and that was a city built on family values, faith, service and community. And while we are proudly celebrating this evening, our past, we are also celebrating the promise of our future as we move Gautier forward together,” said Mayor Casey Vaughan.

Kids enjoyed face painting, snowballs, and cotton candy. The Gautier Fire Department also cooked up some fresh pulled pork sandwiches to celebrate this double birthday. It all wrapped up with Mayor Casey Vaughan getting not one, but two pies to the face from his youth council.

“It’s really great this evening to see so many people come out from all ages. From our seniors in our community, to our youth, everybody is here fellowshipping. It’s just a great evening here in ‘Nature’s Playground,’” said Mayor Vaughan.

The event highlights Gautier’s strong community spirit, welcoming atmosphere, and shows why it’s known as “Nature’s Playground.”
