State accepting workforce Pell Grant applications
Mississippians will soon be able to use federal Pell Grants for certain short-term workforce training programs.
Governor Tate Reeves says the new Workforce Pell Grant Program takes effect July 1 and will cover approved training programs as short as eight weeks for high-demand, high-wage careers.
State leaders have approved the framework for reviewing and approving eligible programs, which must lead to an industry-recognized credential and align with Mississippi’s workforce needs.
To qualify, students must meet federal Pell Grant requirements and enroll in a state and federally approved workforce program at a participating college or university.
