Pascagoula-Gautier School District receives $1.2 million grant to strengthen CTE programs
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- The Pascagoula Gautier School District is getting a major boost for career and technical education.
The College and Career Technical Institute has been awarded $1.2 million in state funding to expand workforce training programs and modernize classrooms.
The money will help upgrade healthcare training equipment, launch a new aquaculture program at Gautier High School and expand the district’s ‘Hired Up’ workforce initiative which has already helped place more than 370 people in jobs with Ingalls Shipbuilding and Bollinger Shipyards.
The funding also creates a dedicate metal fabrication lab to better prepare students for high demand careers along the Gulf Coast.
District leaders say the investment will strengthen the pipeline between local classrooms and local employers.
