Fred Haise Landing dedication takes place Saturday

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- In Biloxi on Saturday, there’s going to be a big celebration of a hometown hero!

Apollo 13 Astronaut and Biloxi native Fred Haise will be on hand for the dedication of Fred Haise Landing, the area around the lighthouse pier where a statue of Haise currently stands.

Alongside the renaming, restoration work on the 144-foot-long moonwalk mural and statue are complete and will be unveiled on Saturday, marking the first major public project by the Biloxi Beautification Commission.

The dedication will take place at 1 p.m. with a ceremony.
