Mississippi National Guard soldier saves two lives in Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WXXV)-The Mississippi National Guard is sharing that one of their own saved two lives in the nation’s capital last month.
Sgt. Jordan Gillespie was walking on a bridge when he noticed a man with his feet over the edge.
Gillespie took time to talk to the person, learning they were a college student feeling overwhelmed after setbacks.
Gillespie convinced the man to step away. United States Park Police taking over the situation.
On the same day, Gillespie found a man standing on the wrong side of the bridge railing near the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
That man was feeling overwhelmed by life as well, Gillespie talking with the person and convincing him to come over the railing.
