MEMA shares Friday damage assessment update following severe weather

MEMA has released new details on the damage Tropical Storm Arthur has done to South Mississippi and elsewhere in the state.

In total, ten counties currently report damage.

The American Red Cross is also now operating shelters in Hancock, Harrison, and Stone counties.

While many roads reopened toady, there are still reports of road closures and damage to a few state highways.

Governor Tate Reeves also released a short statement today, saying in part that MEMA will remain in coordination with Coast emergency management officials in the days to come to assess damage and allocate more resources as they are needed.
