DUI causing death sentencing
A woman convicted of felony DUI causing death was sentenced today in court.
Twenty-one year-old Kaleigh Dartez was sentenced to 25 years in prison with 12 suspended, leaving 13 years to serve.
In November 2014, Dartez was the driver in an accident resulting in the death of another person. During the trial, surveillance footage showed Dartez left the bar to take her male friend home. Officials proved Dartez’s car crossed into the opposite lane, overcorrected, causing the car to flip.
The passenger was likely ejected from the car and died of a broken neck. Dartez had a blood alcohol level almost three times the legal limit.
