Spotted hyena cub born at Hattiesburg Zoo
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WXXV)- The Hattiesburg Zoo announced the birth of a new resident.
The spotted hyena cub was born to mother Pili and father Niru.
The cub was born on June 7. Zoo staff says both mother and cub are doing well. At this time, the cub does not have a name.
Both mother and father’s most recent cub was born in September 2024.
Zoo staff say guests may catch glimpses of Pili and the cub as they begin their bonding period.
The family will remain primarily behind the scenes for the next week to ensure a safe and healthy start.
