New initiative aims to empower women in the gaming industry on the Gulf Coast

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)-A new initiative aimed at empowering women in the Gulf Coast gaming industry is now underway after launching Tuesday in Bay St. Louis.

News 25’s Brynne Baxley spoke with organizers, who say this is something women in the industry have needed for a long time.

Women from across the Gulf Coast gaming industry gathered at the Silver Slipper Casino for a morning of brunch, networking, guest speakers, and a panel discussion.

The event celebrated female leaders and promoted support and collaboration to help shape the future of gaming leadership.

This invitation-only gathering brought together 100 female executives and rising leaders from casino and hospitality organizations across Mississippi and Louisiana.

Next year, they plan to introduce the Karen Sock Memorial Award honoring the late community leader and casino executive.

The award will recognize those making a lasting impact in the gaming industry.
